Babanango Campus

Bushwise Babanango Game Reserve Campus

This campus hosts our IFGA Professional Safari Guide Course - 6/12 months.

Located in the beautiful Babanango Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, the Babanango campus is set against a backdrop of towering mountains, rolling valleys, and wild open spaces. This 20,000-hectare reserve is part of one of Southern Africa’s most ambitious rewilding projects – and now proudly stands as a Big Five reserve.

This region is incredibly diverse – home to everything from cheetahs and caracals to purple-crested turacos and the elusive aardvark. Babanango offers a richness of species rarely found in one place. Combine that with the sweeping White Umfolozi River, an 800-metre range in altitude, and deep-rooted Zulu cultural heritage, and you’ve got a truly exceptional environment for field guide training.

Facilities

All your essential amenities are under one roof – your room, the classroom, the dining area, and the bathrooms are all part of the same building. It’s a seamless setup that makes day-to-day life easy and helps you stay organised throughout the course.

The shared rooms are comfortable, and the campus is safely fenced, giving you peace of mind without losing the sense of being in the wild. From the braai and social area, you’ll enjoy incredible views over the rolling hills of Babanango Game Reserve and the winding White Umfolozi River – the perfect spot to relax after a busy day.

When you’re not in class or out in the field, the braai area is where everyone comes together to catch up, swap stories, or simply enjoy the quiet. And with Wi-Fi access and a field guide library on hand, you’ll have what you need to stay connected and keep learning, even in your downtime.
